DIETARY SUPERVISOR

Location: St Francis Healthcare, Wilmington, DE

Status: Full time

Shift: Mon to Fri, 7 am to 330 pm, no nights/weekends/holiday shifts

Position Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize and manage the daily operation of the Dietary Department at the PACE Organization (PO). This position performs dining services and housekeeping duties and assumes general responsibility for the kitchen responsibilities.

What you will do:

Position will require travel to PACE site in Newark to supervise/assist with dietary operations 1 - 2 times per week.

What you will do:

  • Assure the dietary expenses are within budgetary limits and maintain current written records of department expenditures and provide documentation, records and cost reports to the appropriate leaders as required.

  • Assure that physician orders and established nutritional plans are followed in processing regular diets, new diets and diet changes.

  • Establish and maintain productive lines of communication between dietary services and other facility departments and services.

  • Ensure that food equipment and supplies for all meals are readily available.

  • Assist in monitoring meals, including intake, diet compliance and plate accuracy.

  • Oversee maintenance/cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen; monitor portion control, appropriate serving of food; and adherence to therapeutic diets, purchasing and inventory of food.

  • Responsible for the management of therapeutic diets, including modification to meet individual participant needs, and physician orders.

  • Supervise dietary aides in the performance of duties related to food preparation, food serving and/or general maintenance in the kitchen or dining area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree preferred.

  • 2 years of experience in quantity food preparation in the healthcare, hospitality or retirement industry.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly population upon hiring.

  • ServSafe Certification or receive within 3 months of employment.

  • Supervisor experience strongly preferred.

  • Must manage conflict well, be customer focused and be able to adapt to ongoing change with regard to work priorities.

  • Demonstrates superior written/verbal communication skills appropriate for audience comprehension and ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft product suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.); basic knowledge and experience with electronic mail and calendaring system. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Position requires ability to engage in frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, sitting, walking, bending and lifting. Must be able to push, pull, move and or lift a minimum of 20 pounds if applicable.
