Xylem Field Service Engineer in Waukesha, Wisconsin

The field process engineer position for the Biological Systems product lines has responsibility for providing semi-complex to complex product support to customers both in the field on job sites and remotely via telephone and email. The position reports to the electrical engineering manager and works closely with the manager and various teams (product/technology management, sales support, order execution, R&D, etc). The position requires a good working knowledge of the product line and the ability to process and interpret complex and not well defined issues and challenges related to biological and physical-chemical wastewater and water treatment.

  • On-site process start-up and operations leadership and support for full scale installations and pilot studies used in product line selling efforts.

  • Perform process and controls training for customers.

  • Perform analytical testing on water and wastewater samples and evaluate results to make process adjustments and improvements.

  • Data analysis and process troubleshooting both on-site and remotely from the office.

  • Assess and resolve process, instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical issues in the field.

  • Provide written and verbal summaries of work activities for benefit of customer and internal team.

  • Identify, coordinate, and engage with resources needed from other functional teams to complete assignments.

  • Support product development and improvement initiatives and share lessons learned in the field to assist in product improvement.

  • Compile data and write summary reports of pilot and research activities.

Required Skills:

  • Experience: 2-5+ years of experience

  • BS or MS in Engineering: Civil, Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to work well with others with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to travel up to 60-80% domestically and internationally.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to assess and respond to issues as they arise.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with process equipment, instrumentation and controls.

  • Experience with Biological Treatment Design

  • Experience with Physical/Chemical Water Treatment Design

  • Strong Excel Skills

  • 2D and 3D CAD design experience
