This person will have knowledge of networked systems including copper, fiber-optic and wireless communication standards. Understand network operating systems and protocols, and virtualization technologies and implementation. As a Network Administrator, the ideal candidate will be inquisitive, problem-solving and understand how to effectively help customers. A snap shot of duties is below:

  • Assure the optimum availability of data communications through the use of state-of-the-art utilities such as SNMP monitors, data scopes, protocol analyzers and dashboards;
  • Implement and monitor security standards for all network devices and data information stores, including the setup and maintenance of such equipment as routers and access lists, firewalls, intrusion detection services, and VPNs;
  • Design, implement and maintain remote access standards to resources, as well as the installation, setup and maintenance of remote access devices such as VPNs and secure tunnels;
  • Implement and monitor disaster-recovery standards, including audit requirements, legal requirements, risk analysis, and recovery strategies and the setup and maintenance of fault-tolerant hardware and data backup systems;
  • Develop plans and standardize methods for the installation and configuration of software on user accounts, individual computers and the network;
  • Install and configure and maintain network devices and peripherals such as multi-platform computers, printers, scanners, digital cameras and video equipment;
  • Create and update SQL queries (including update and delete), views, scripts, and reports;
  • Install and maintain network system, file services, cabling, network boards, serial, modem and mouse cards and memory upgrades;
  • Write/code computer scripts for the automation of new applications or procedures.

A high school diploma or GED is required for this position. A college degree and/or advanced technical training certificate in computer, networking, or communications technology or related field and two to three years of computer related experience in network administration or related field is preferred.

This position is subject to callouts after regular office hours to respond to emergency situations so applicants must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record.

Because of the nature of this job, a complete and thorough background investigation is required of the successful candidate. This will include a polygraph, review of driving record, education, criminal history and contacting references.
