Alamo Group Inc. Materials Management Supervisor in New Berlin, Wisconsin

Great opportunity for a Materials Supervisor in New Berlin, Wisconsin! Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position is responsible for utilizing established guidelines and exercising independent judgment, leads inventory control process to support the attainment of company financial goals and customer satisfaction. Review and perform inventory cycle counts for accuracy of shipped product and received goods, monitor inventory variances and discrepancies and implement solutions.

  1. Manage inventory to ensure the goal of maintaining cycle count variance of less than one percent is achieved.

  2. Direct and supervise assigned shipping, receiving and material handling employees following established procedures and approved processes. Including but not limited to: performance appraisals, hiring, employee relations, attendance and timecard maintenance, coaching and training as needed.

  3. Manages warehouse inventory accuracy in support of annual sales volume to ensure that optimum customer satisfaction is achieved by minimizing out-of-stock situations.

  4. Performs detailed and precise cycle counts of all warehouse bin locations in accordance with established guidelines to determine inventory accuracy and reports findings to appropriate personnel.

  5. Generates and maintains computer-based cycle count programs.

  6. Investigates negative inventory balances, determines root causes, influences corrective solutions, and ensures inventory counts are corrected.

  7. Investigates inventory problems and potential problems upon request form Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, etc., and analyzes problem to determine root causes. Makes recommendations for corrective action.

  8. Manages pick side of order processing function. Compares pick accuracy to customer order.

  9. Manages entire receiving process to ensure accuracy. Monitors vendor packing list and compares purchase order and assures put-away accuracy by performing a physical product location check. Reports findings to Supply Chain Manager and Senior Accountant along with recommendations for corrective action.

  10. Audits accuracy of customer shipments. Utilizing customer service shipping error reports, investigates missed picks and long/short shipments and reports findings to Supply Chain Manager and Controller along with recommendations for remedial action.

  11. Monitors inventory locations to determine inventory status as may apply to shrinkage, write-off, adjustments back to inventory, etc. Reports findings to Controller with recommendations for corrective action.

  12. Plan, schedule, and coordinate departmental activities to fulfill sales orders and production schedules, meet inventory accuracy requirements, and deliver manufacturing materials to the work centers in a timely manner. Flex, move, or reassign labor/employees as demands dictate.

  13. Ability to initiate process improvements independently without being prompted, and able to follow improvements through to ensure they are being sustained.

  14. Incorporate shop floor organization, Lean techniques, and plant cleanliness.

  15. Maintain and enforce safety standards. Report any safety concerns to leadership immediately.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  1. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and material flow methodologies and principles.

  2. Able to set work schedules for the department to ensure labor is available to meet deadlines.

  3. Excellent communication skills required, including verbal and written.

  4. Strong analytical skills and ability to perform focused in-depth investigations to address a variety of issues and reach conclusions with findings.

  5. Requires strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization and address sensitive issues in a diplomatic nature.

  6. Strong computer skills, including report creation and retrieval. Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs is required. Previous experience working with ERP and MRP.

  7. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as needed.

  8. Ability to organize and prioritize workload.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Management; or Accounting.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in inventory control administration in a manufacturing environment.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing work environment.

  • Requires a background in process improvement programs and inventory management systems.
