Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Distinguished Software Engineer, Technical Architect is responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of technical solutions for complex projects inclusive of hands-on development of frameworks, patterns, and new technology proofs of concept. The Technical Architect is a key contributor in the planning, design, and delivery of technical solutions, providing expertise and guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle. This is a hands-on role that supports architectural designs and advisory for the Walmart Pharmacy division.

From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements, objectives, and constraints to develop technical solutions that align with the business and technology strategies.

  2. Design and document technical architecture, ensuring that it meets the project's functional and non-functional requirements.

  3. Evaluate (including managing, contributing, and executing various POCs) and select appropriate technology platforms, frameworks, and tools to support the implementation of the technical solution.

  4. Create and present architectural designs, prototypes, and technical roadmaps to project teams and stakeholders.

  5. Create, present, and teach frameworks for use across the platform.

  6. Identify and validate new technologies and patterns to be employed for the betterment of the organization.

  7. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices.

  8. Conduct technical reviews and code inspections to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.

  9. Identify and mitigate technical risks, anticipating potential challenges and proposing contingency plans.

  10. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure that the technical solution is scalable, secure, and performant.

  11. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization's technical architecture.

  12. Participate in the evaluation and selection of third-party vendors and technologies, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and architectural guidelines.

What you'll bring:

  1. Proven experience as a Technical Architect or similar role, with a strong background in software development and architecture.

  2. In-depth knowledge of various technology domains, such as web development, cloud computing, databases, networking, and security.

  3. Proficiency in designing and implementing scalable, distributed, and high-performance software solutions.

  4. Familiarity with architectural patterns, frameworks, and best practices, such as microservices, event-driven architecture, and DevOps.

  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  7. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.

  8. Experience in Agile development methodologies and practices.

  9. Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Solution Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are a plus.

Hoboken, New Jersey US-10279:The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00

Sunnyvale, California US-08479:The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00-$338,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
