St. Peters Health Informatics Specialist in Helena, Montana

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The Clinical Informatics Specialist (CLS) supports the mission of the St. Peter’s Hospital organization, the SPMG and its affiliates as required. Supports the Outreach Business Office, Internal and External Clinicians and Allied Health through continuous maintenance of the hospitals clinical and finance informatics applications including coordination of program areas or special projects that contribute to the provision of exceptional and compassionate health care to the community. Serves as a primary informatics resource supporting Diagnostics and Business Office staff roles throughout the care continuum (as assigned) in the specialty of Clinical and Business Informatics. Responsible for working as a contributing member of the interdisciplinary team, which makes up the Outreach Business Office and Diagnostics Departments with the focus on achievement of team goals and end user satisfaction. Plans and designs business and clinical solutions and utilizes resources to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the St. Peter’s Health organization and community partners as required. Facilitates and coordinates the integration of data, information, professional knowledge and systems to support improved productivity, decision making and quality outcomes for our end users. Utilizes clinical experience and knowledge to design and optimize systems that facilitate clinical practice, improve safety, promote best practice, optimize client relationships and facilitate patient care. Performs as an educational resource for clinicians and finance teams both internal and external who utilize the systems.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Three years experience as a clinical lab scientist/medical lab technician as a generalist in a hospital setting and/or three years experience in radiographic procedures required. Two years of computer technical school and/or two years’ experience working directly in computer field preferred. Background with Epic, EHR, LIS and Diagnostic Services systems desired. Experience working autonomously on complex projects and directing the efforts of multiple people. Ability to submit reports and updates to all stakeholders as required. Must have solid competency in computer skills. Must possess advanced knowledge and proficiency in applying various Epic modules to clinical and business informatics issues. Ability to perform research as needed and utilize teaching skills and systems management experience in order to meet the needs of our end users. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to include the use of computer technology in program presentations and/or data analysis. Must be detail oriented.

EDUCATION: Graduation from an approved MLT/CLS program and/or School of Diagnostic Imaging Technology is required. Bachelor’s degree in science is preferred. Meets national criteria for testing personnel in Laboratory and/or Diagnostic Imaging.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Technical National and State Licensure in one or more respective disciplines within Laboratory and/or current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in one or more modalities. Candidate will acquire Beaker/Radiant Credentialed Trainer, Beaker Clinical Pathology and/or Radiant Certificate within 2 years of hire.
