We are seeking a talented individual to join our Group Benefits Compliance team. The team is part of The Hartford's Law Department and is made up of cross-functional compliance professionals supporting the core compliance functions in Group Benefits. This individual will be primarily responsible for evaluating the impact of regulatory and legislative changes on The Hartford's Group Benefits products (Life, Disability, Supp Health), validating Group Benefits advertising materials are compliant with state laws and regulations, and providing support on projects related to our Absence Management line of business.

An ideal candidate is someone with legal, compliance, project management or business expertise. This role reports to the AVP, Compliance Officer leading the Legislative Advisory and Advertising Review team.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).    Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Job Duties :

  • Review, analyze and interpret the impact of new or updated legislation and regulations that relate to The Hartford's products and/or business processes

  • Communicates impactful regulatory changes to business partners, assists in the development of action plans to implement the changes and monitors those plans for completion.

  • Reviews and approves advertising collateral submitted to Compliance for review to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal best practices

  • Updates advertising review policies and procedure documents to reflect most current guidance to assist business partners in complying with required regulatory guidance

  • Maintains effective working relationships and works across functional areas to promote consistency in approach both internally and externally to achieve compliance with insurance laws and regulations

  • Supports strategic and tactical projects as needed related to Group Benefit’s Absence Management line of business

Technical/Functional Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years experience in the areas of Legal, Compliance, Project Management or Group Benefits roles providing support on management of regulatory issues.

  • Experience with the review and interpretation of laws and regulations; Use of legal research platforms a plus

  • Possesses strong critical thinking and problem resolution skills;

  • Highly organized with a commitment to quality, accuracy and driving results.

  • Ability to multi-task, set/shift priorities and consistently meet deliverable dates

  • Work as a Team - easily and inclusively works with others to deliver results

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$72,240 - $108,360
