    Job Description

ACADEMIC-RESEARCH PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, Morningside Academy for Design (MIT MAD) (https://design.mit.edu/) , to join an interdisciplinary hub for design education, research, and entrepreneurship. Will be responsible for the administrative needs of the academic program and the MIT- and Hasso Plattner Foundation (HPF)-created Designing for Sustainability (https://design.mit.edu/about/research) program. Responsibilities include advising students on professional development and course issues; collaborating on developing graduate and undergraduate certificate programs and strategy for integrating design into the pedagogy throughout MIT; serving as a resource on program and MIT requirements; providing administrative support to lecture series, workshops, and visiting scholars and students; liaising between MAD, departments, schools, and MIT administrative offices; and maintaining databases/records and providing reports and statistics. Support for the Designing for Sustainability program includes grant administration, managing HPF reporting requirements and annual call for proposals, and planning and implementing meetings.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; three years’ academic administration experience; program/project management experience, preferably in an academic setting; broad understanding of academic operations and research; experience executing the implementation of research projects, communicating and coordinating with academics/collaborators in the field; excellent organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, writing, and editing skills; attention to detail; flexibility; experience leading projects/programs/functions; comfort working independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; and good judgment under pressure in a varied, sometimes demanding environment. Must be able to interact effectively with a diverse group of researchers, students, community partners, and others; balance competing priorities from multiple stakeholders, develop timelines, and meet strict, time-sensitive deadlines; create and maintain project documentation; and synthesize and communicate information/data in a cohesive, succinct manner.
