Job Description:

The Opportunity:

  • Organize requested informational material and presentations for community regarding WIC, nutrition & breastfeeding

  • Authorize electric breast pump rentals.

  • Communicate with State WIC Agency pertaining to monthly reports and cost containment.

  • Review breastfeeding materials and visual displays for WIC offices.

  • Oversee MG WIC agency electric breast pump follow-up contact reports and electric breast pump inventory tracking according to state policy.

  • Work with WIC authorized electric breast pump rental programs to ensure authorization and rental returns.

  • Represent MG WIC at State WIC Agency and local meetings pertaining to breastfeeding and presents information from these meeting to WIC staff.

  • Monitor and develop breastfeeding training for all WIC staff.

  • Prepare and submit breastfeeding outreach plan to State WIC agency.

  • Review and submit required Breastfeeding Peer Counselor reports and data to State WIC agency.

  • Train and Supervise WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors.

  • Organizes and conducts WIC outreach clinics to populations of WIC-eligible participants outside of main site service area as determined by State WIC Agency policy.

  • Ensures the outreach clinics have comparable opportunities for WIC services as provided at main sites.

  • Works with community partners to ensure that WIC outreach clinics are inviting, comfortable, and safe for WIC participants.

  • Connects with community services and WIC vendors to increase awareness of WIC services in their area and address issues and concerns.

  • Engages in outreach efforts to maintain client participation numbers to ensure clinic viability.

    You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and/or health-related field or Registered Dietetic Technician

  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) required (or course completed within 12 months of hire), IBCLC preferred

  • Valid State of Maine Driver's License with clean driving record required.

  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

  • Ability to complete required WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Training and Continuing Education credits
